In-house IP-PBX Product

The product is comprised of hardware and software and is installed at your premises. The hardware consists of PC-based servers, using off-the-shelf components, and special telephony interface components. The software consists of components which provide the voice and data infrastructure to your organization.

  • Hardware

The hardware consists of one or more PC-based servers that contain special telephony interface components. The primary interface is for a T1 circuit--these T1 circuits can connect to both the PSTN and to local channel bank devices (channel banks are used to connect multiple analog telephone sets to a PBX). Additionally, TDM cards may be used to connect POTS lines and analog telephone sets.

The PC hardware typically consists of a server quality motherboard using an Athlon-64 or Opteron processor, 1GB RAM, 2x80GB hard disk in a mirrored configuration using hardware RAID, CD-RW, and a 3U rack-mount case. The motherboards are typically equipped with dual on-board 10/100/1000-ethernet ports. A UPS is also provided.

Hardware components also include telephone sets. If new telephones are to be purchased, we recommend SIP sets from Cisco, Polycom, Sipura, and SNOM. Telecom Matters Corp. can provide fully configured telephone sets for a new IP-PBX. For the replacement of a Nortel or Avaya system, we may be able to re-use your existing digital telephone sets.

  • Software

The software consists of the Linux operating system, the feature-rich Asterisk PBX software, and other open-source applications. These programs include the Linux firewall module, Web Server, Mail Server, and File Server (all are optional). All software items are open source--there is no charge to use this software.

  • Pricing

Since every IP-PBX telephone system is customized, it is not possible to publish system prices. However, Telecom Matters Corp. will be happy to provide a proposal for your intended infrastructure. To provide a proposal, we will first have to discuss your requirements and goals. Please do not order any circuits from your telephone company before we have had a chance to discuss the proposed system.

Telecom Matters Corp. warrants its equipment for one (1) year following installation. A maintenance agreement is available for subsequent years.

Moves, adds, and changes (MAC) are provided on a time and materials basis.

Each machine is equipped with remote monitoring software. If and when an alert is raised, an email will be sent to Telecom Matters Corp. and/or your support personnel. Telecom Matters Corp. also provides a system backup service.
